Songwriter Erik Sumner of Let's Rock Sarasota teaches how to write songs, even if you 've never sung or played and instrument.
Classes for Children. Ages 4 -6 years old
Let’s Rock Sarasota is now offering children’s music classes. These classes focus on beloved youth songs along with some modern favorites. Each class not only encourages each child to creatively explore their voice and musical instruments, but also nurtures the idea of teamwork and singing together. With classes that are small enough for one-on-one attention your child's musical skills will blossom.

Group Classes are available as a four week session. 45 minutes class per week. $60 per month.
One Time registration fee of $10.00 per student. (only for Kids Music)

ROCK AND ROLL BAND PROGRAM
Come and join us for our Rock and Roll Band Program. Would you like to be part of a Rock Band? This is your opportunity!
All ages welcome. Register now.
In this course, students have the opportunity to work their music skills and perform in various events during the program and school concerts.
All guitar and bass students are required to have their own musical instrument and cables. Keyboard and drums are provided.
The Program will include the following:
1 1/2 hour coached classes/ 1 class per week (see schedule)
1 sixty minute guest workshop/class
Performances.
Cost: $150/Monthly with five month commitment
For new students there is a one time registration fee of $25.00 per student.
ROCK AND ROLL SUMMER SESSION
Come and join us for our Rock and Roll Summer Session.
Students ages 9 – 18.
In this session students have the opportunity to work their music skills, interact with other young musicians, play in a rock band and record at the end of session.
The 1 week session will include the following:
Students will study instrument and equipment techniques and rehearsal songs.
4 hour coached class daily per band. 9:30 am- 1:30 pm. Bring your own lunch.
1 recording session. (CD).
Cost is $195/ per week. For new students there is a one time registration fee of $25.00 per student.

David Cubillos - Piano Instructor
Jazz Performance
David Cubillos started playing classical music an early age. At 18 he began playing in Salsa bands and began studying Jazz. He got his A.A. Music degree from the State College of Florida and then went on to the University of South Florida to achieve his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance. He's played in the salsa bands accompanying such Latin artists as Ray de la Paz, Anthony Cruz, Jose "Papo" Rivera, and has opened on several occasions for the well know Salsa band "Puerto Rican Power". He plays regularly in Sarasota with Funk, R&B, Jazz bands and continues to play in the salsa bands in Tampa Bay area.
Gregg Voorhees - Bass Instructor
Gregg Voorhees is one of the top bassist in the Tampa Bay area. He has degree in music education and has been playing and teaching bass for over forty years. Gregg was on the music faculty at Manatee Community College (now State College of Florida) for twelve years and the National Guitar Workshop eight years.
Gregg is accomplished in many styles of music from rock, jazz, country, latin and classical. Here is a list of bands and musicians Gregg has performed with: Chicago Youth Symphony, Millikin University Jazz Lab Band, Chet Atkins, Bo Didley, Gregg Allman Band, Dan Toler, John Davidson,Flight Path, Herbie Mann

Kimberly has been a singer for over 25 years. She started performing at a young age, and by 18 was working as a professional performer.
She attended Booker Visual and Performing Art’s School in Sarasota Florida where she majored in voice while studying with private teachers. Eager to begin singing professionally she chose to gain her education while singing with various bands in a variety of venues. This experience has proven to be invaluable as she has great versatility as a singer. She has performed Rock-n-Roll, County, Pop, Top 40, Jazz Standards, Classical and Inspirational music.
Kimberly has enjoyed studio work as both a lead and backup singer and has been hired to sing jingles as well as original songs for songwriters.
Her experience is extensive and does not stop at the Theater. She has been in some major stage productions including “Titanic.”
Over the years she has moved into a very natural progression of being a vocal coach to aspiring singers, teaching them personalized vocal techniques and has immensely enjoyed watching the progression of her students.

Gene Hodsdon is an award winning composer and graduate from Berklee College of Music. He recently won best film score at the Terror Film Festival in Philadelphia, PA for the film “By Her Hand, She Draws You Down” and also won best film score at the LA Movie Festival in the television category for the comedic series “The Au Pairs” starring comedian Ellyn Daniels. He also teaches guitar privately at Let’s Rock Sarasota. As of last year he has been playing in the band Spark Notes in and around the Sarasota area.
Baritone Erik Sumner
Vocal, Songwriting, Music Theory and Composition Instructor
Erik earned a BA in vocal performance and theory/composition from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL and an MM in vocal performance from New England Conservatory, where he studied with Mark St. Laurent. Erik's musical activities include teaching private music lessons, playing piano, guitar, and drums, tutoring in theory, writing music for a variety of media, and singing opera, popular and art songs as well as sacred and secular choral music
Russell Sharp - Drum Instructor
Originally from Connecticut, Russell got his first drum set in 69--after being inspired by Woodstock. Hes paid many dues playing in Rock n Roll bands throughout the Northeast in Massachusetts, N.Y., Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut and Florida. Having more than 30 years of playing experience, hes able to become one with the music and creates an original rhythmic sound and groove within a song.
Hes played the West Coast L.A. scene for years, covering parts of Arizona and California. Hes had the opportunity of taking lessons from Graham Lear (Santanas Drummer) and jammed with Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge), Chris Pinnick (Chicago), Chet McCracken (Doobie Bros), Aynsley Dunbar (Zappa, Journey) and with Eddie Van Halen.
Adaptable to any situation or style, hes made tremendous strides in Rock n Roll, Blues, Funk, R&B, Jazz and Progressive Rock areas. He knows when to be subtle and when to explode with enthusiastic energy. The use of dynamics and a free feel are key elements to his style.

Viktor Nikolov - Piano Instructor
Mr. Viktor Nikolov is a versatile and exciting pianist from Bulgaria, who has received high acclamations for his talent.
Viktor has had recitals in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has won a number of national and international piano competitions, among which Alber Roussel, Bulgaria , Citta di Marsala, Italy, Virtuozi per Muzika di Pianoforte, Czech Republic, and Steinway and Sons, Germany. He has also performed at multiple international music festivals in Japan, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, and others. Viktor has multiple recordings with Bulgarian Radio and Television, Czech Radio and Television, German Television, and Japanese Radio and Television.
Viktors teaching and accompaniment experience includes working with students of various level of advancement in piano performance, both in Bulgaria and in the U.S. Most recently, he was a piano instructor at SOBE Institute of the Arts in Miami Beach. Prior to that, he was a teaching assistant at the piano class of Prof. Svetozar Ivanov at USF. In addition, he was an accompanist to a broad specter of studios at USF, including Clarinet studio of Prof. B. Moorhead; Violin studio of Prof. C. Stuart; and French horn studio of Prof. J. Wilson. Back in Bulgaria, he had a class piano at the School of Music in Pleven, Bulgaria, and was a teaching assistant in the piano class of Prof. Marina Kapatsinskaya at the State Academy of Music in Sofia.
Viktor began his piano education at the age of six under the guidance of the renowned piano pedagogue Prof. Eleonora Karamycheva. He graduated from the School of Music in Pleven, Bulgaria and continued his education at the State Academy of Music in Sofia, under the guidance of internationally celebrated pianist Prof. Marina Kapatsinskaya, where he earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. He also received an MM in piano performance from the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL.
